1711.14 DRY MIND

I've been drawing cartoons since I first picked up a crayon. I've always loved drawing and recently I've found it to be very therapeutic and have enjoyed sharing them with others.

1711.09 WHY DOESN'T THE POISON MATTER?

This post has been in my head for a long time now. I've been toying with coming at it from various angles. Recently though I realised that  doesn't matter which way you look at the subject, as long as you look.

1711.02 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #32 - WEREWOLF

Rollo #32; The second Halloween special is here and it's time for a party. Trick or treat?

1710.31 ARE DARK FORCES KILLING TRADITION?

It's that time of year again, it's Halloween. A time when kids go around knocking on doors dressed up in fancy dress (usually horror characters), when adults attend parties dressed as the very same. But it wasn't always quite like this...

1710.29 A CHANCE TO EMPTY MY HEAD

Time to relax is important. It's just as important to relax your mind as well as your body. That was the plan anyway this weekend gone.

Thursday, 26 October 2017

1710.26 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #31 - HORROR

Rollo #31; It's the Halloween special and what's more frightening than a Vegan Zombie?

Wednesday, 25 October 2017

1710.25 CRAMMING FOR THE TEST

It's 30 years since I took my exams at the end of my school life. Big changes happened to English exams the year after, but now they're changing back (sort of). They do say history repeats itself.

Saturday, 21 October 2017

1710.21 SICK-EE

I haven't been sick for a while. It's been even longer since sickness forced me off work.

Thursday, 19 October 2017

1710.19 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #30 - AIR

Rollo #30; When a friend visits from the city they may not appreciate the joys of rural living.

1710.16 THE LAST EVER PARENT-TEACHER EVENING

As a parent of older children, well an adult and a teenager, I've seen many of the parenting tasks end. Last Thursday I saw another one end.

Thursday, 12 October 2017

1710.12 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #29 - REVEREND

Rollo #29; It's not always a good idea to seek divine opinion.

1710.10 15 YEAR BLOGGERVERSARY

Ok, it might not be the most popular blog but I enjoy it and it's been around a long time, fifteen year in fact. That's right, I've been writing this stuff for a decade and a half.

1710.08 WONDERFUL EVERYDAY

It's been over 20 years in the making. People have actively campaigned for this to happen. Well the wait was finally over as Sheffield welcomed Ikea to the city last week as the Swedish store opened it's doors to it's 20th UK premises.

Thursday, 5 October 2017

1710.05 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #28 - MONEY

Rollo #28; Do you ever feel that the gap between your pay running out and payday is getting larger?

1710.04 SWEET SIXTEEN

Being a parent is a job for life. Sure the sleepless nights are over pretty quick, in fact the whole childhood part is over pretty quick so if you've got little ones make sure you're savouring it all.

1709.28 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #27 - CLUB

So here it is... I'm self publishing my comics on my blog. They will still be available on other platforms but this is the place to see them first.

Rollo #27; Rollo and his best mate Dave hit the town for a lads night out.

1709.27 ALL BAD NEWS

Like a lot of people I have a news app on my phone. There are loads out there that chime to give you the latest breaking headlines. I subscribe to the BBC News app but they're all pretty much the same.

1709.26 ROLLO ROUNDUP #5

From this week I'm self publishing my work so this is the last compilation post.

1709.24 TREKKING AGAIN!

It's been a long 12 years since any new Star Trek was on our TV screens. The time is almost upon us, the long wait is almost over...

1709.23 OLD BILL

Classic TV is something I enjoy. One classic show is enjoying a little bit of a revival on one of our digital channels. It was a particular favourite of mine  back in the day.

1709.21 ROLLO ROUNDUP #4

I've made a decision regarding Rollo and any other webcomic I create. I'll continue to share with other platforms including Tapas but I realised I'm missing a chance to direct any potential traffic to this platform.

1709.18 ALL CHANGE YET NOT

This week has been a difficult one. My head space has been mucked about by life and the reshuffle at work.

Tuesday, 12 September 2017

1709.11 THE DOUBLE

This year has been great for cycling, at least it has on the telly. When I speak to people generally they have heard of the Tour de France and that's it. Few know that there are 3 grand tours (I apologise to those in the know); Giro d'Italia - Tour de France - Vuelta Espana. It's the Vuelta that I'm going to talk about today.

1709.07 Q

Pay attention 007. I have the latest gadget for you. We all love gadgets don't we?

1709.03 THE PURGE

Seven years ago I negotiated a new Sky+HD box after my original Sky box started to fail (actually it turned out to be the dish at fault). In fact I wrote a blog post about it at the time. Well I am now in a similar position with my current 7 year old box having intermittent trouble recognising the viewing card.

1708.31 HATERS GONNA HATE

I wasn't going to write this post. I didn't want to wade in to the debate about the supposed danger cycles are to the general population. So why am I writing this? Well I'm just fed up with the hate that's flying around at the moment.

1708.26 I THINK I'LL LEAVE MY HAT ON

Whenever I say where I'm from the usual response is something along the lines of "oh! The place in 'The Full Monty'". Of course they're referring to the 1997 hit movie which was filmed in Sheffield and today that movie is 20 years old.

Sunday, 20 August 2017

1708.20 THE LONG DRIVE

Easily the worst part of any trip to my favourite place is leaving. Most know my love for that place, I go on about it a lot, but the heartache I feel when I leave is difficult to describe.

1708.10 UNDERPANTS AND CAR WASHING

It's come around again. It's time to pack for our annual pilgrimage to Wales.

Saturday, 5 August 2017

1709.05 WHAT'S WITH THE KLINGONS?

It's been a while since I did a Star Trek blog post. Whilst more and more revelations and trailers are revealed about the latest iteration of the franchise I'd like to look back at my favourite alien race from the Star Trek universe. Of course I'm talking about the Klingons.

1707.31 ROLLO ROUNDUP #3

Rollo reaches a milestone this week with my 20th panel. I hope you enjoy.

1707.28 HIS NOODLEY GOODNESS

I've been to many weddings in my life. Some have been moving, some have been dull. Some have been enjoyable but I don't think I've ever been able to describe any as "fun", until now.

1707.23 TDF ROUNDUP WEEK THREE

The final week came and so did the Alps. With Chris Froome in Yellow and Adam Yates in the young rider's White it was all to play for. It was a still a long road to Paris.

Monday, 17 July 2017

1707.16 NEW WHO

So we were told that the new actor to play The Doctor in 'Doctor Who' would be revealed directly after the Men's Wimbledon Finals. I monitored social media and learned the tennis had finished early so quickly turned over to the last few minutes of the men's final.

1707.14 TDF ROUNDUP WEEK TWO

Everyone who knows me knows that knows that July I spend watching the cycling on telly. It's Tour de France time of course, the 2nd of the grand tours and arguably the most famous. We're 2/3 through and almost at the Champs-Elysees.

1707.12 FIRST BORN - TWENTY ONE

Now I know what you're all going to say, "he doesn't look old enough" but it's true. From today my eldest daughter is 21 years old. It's her birthday!

Sunday, 9 July 2017

1707.07 TDF ROUNDUP WEEK ONE

Everyone who knows me knows that knows that July I spend watching the cycling on telly. It's Tour de France time of course, the 2nd of the grand tours and arguably the most famous.

1706.25 THE SHEFFIELD FLOOD

Once again I find myself looking back at events from 10 years ago. This time it's a natural disaster that fell on my home city of Sheffield. After unprecedented rainfall the rivers in the area burst their banks and became the area's most deviating event since the Second World War.

Thursday, 22 June 2017

1706.22 ROLLO ROUNDUP #02

Rollo is taking a break this week so why not catch up with his adventures so far...

Tuesday, 20 June 2017

1706.20 TEN YEARS LATER

Ten years ago today was the longest day of my life. It was a day of waiting... and waiting. A day of fear and did I mention waiting?

1706.15 THE MUMMY

I haven't been to the pictures for a while. This was my first visit since I let my Unlimited card go (since I wasn't getting my money's worth.

Tuesday, 13 June 2017

1706.13 N PLUS ONE

If you've seen my social media you'll know that I just got myself a new bike.

Thursday, 8 June 2017

1706.08 YOUR DEMOCRATIC RIGHT

It's been 2 years since the last general election and since the Prime Minister has decided to try and grab more parliamentary seats we have another chance to vote today, 3 years early.

Tuesday, 6 June 2017

1706.06 ARRRR JIM LAD!

Thar be pirates everywhere! I be nah natterin' about colourful characters wit' parrots on thar shoulders. I be nah even natterin' about those real life scary Somalian pirates.

No, I be natterin' about movie pirates.

1705.20 PULLING THE BIRDS

Firstly I have to say I'm not an ornithologist and my interest in our feathered friends hasn't stretched much beyond saying "Ooooh that's pretty" when viewing a particularly attractive budgie.

Tuesday, 23 May 2017

1705.23 PRAY FOR MANCHESTER

As a father to daughters who I've picked up after a concert in the past I'm struggling to come to terms with the events last night at Manchester.

1705.12 LDN ON A SHOESTRING

...Or a cycling themed trip to the capital when I'm skint.

My best mate of 30 years got free tickets to the Spin Cycling Festival at Europa in London. What a great excuse for a trip.
