As this is my last post of the year so I thought I'd better tie up the final loose end of 2017. So as the hangovers subside (at least till New Year's Day) let's look at my Christmas.

1712.25 THE CAPTAIN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
At the time I publish this (and if you're in the UK) you're probably sat down to your Christmas Dinner (I'm northern, dinner is at lunchtime - subject for another time) or sat in front of the TV watching the Queen give her address to the commonwealth. There's a chance you've decided to read this in which case I'm honoured, if you're catching up later on then that's fine too. Ok it's time for me to take the time to reflect on the year behind me.

So you've gotten through Christmas and you can finally relax and watch some TV. So here's my pick from Boxing Day through to the new year.

1712.16 MY HIGHLIGHTER'S TELLY PICK
As usual I have been scouring the pages of the festive double issue of the Radio Times to find the seasonal gems to enjoy over the Christmas period. So here's my pick of the top telly this Christmas...

Rollo #36; Christmas is here and it's time for games. But there's always one who goes that little further.

1712.10 THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS MOVIE
The Christmas season is in full swing and as such there are many festive delights showing on a screen near you now. But what makes a Christmas movie? Is there a winning formula? What is the greatest Christmas movie of all time?

1712.02 WEBCOMIC: ROLLO #35- PIZZA
Rollo #35; Have you ever regretted being a little rash? Especially when you've had a couple of drinks.

1712.01 SANTA CLAWS
Christmas?
I've bleated on about this many times, probably every year. I make no secret that I there are aspects to this time of year that I hate.

1711.26 75 YEARS AT RICK'S
There's no way I could leave this anniversary without passing comment. On this day 75 years ago the greatest film ever made received it's World Premier in New York.

1711.14 DRY MIND
I've been drawing cartoons since I first picked up a crayon. I've always loved drawing and recently I've found it to be very therapeutic and have enjoyed sharing them with others.

1711.12 REMEMBER THOSE THAT GAVE SO MUCH
If you were reading this time last year you may have read my post for Remembrance Sunday and my daughter who is an Army Cadet.

1711.09 WHY DOESN'T THE POISON MATTER?
This post has been in my head for a long time now. I've been toying with coming at it from various angles. Recently though I realised that doesn't matter which way you look at the subject, as long as you look.

1710.31 ARE DARK FORCES KILLING TRADITION?
It's that time of year again, it's Halloween. A time when kids go around knocking on doors dressed up in fancy dress (usually horror characters), when adults attend parties dressed as the very same. But it wasn't always quite like this...

1710.29 A CHANCE TO EMPTY MY HEAD
Time to relax is important. It's just as important to relax your mind as well as your body. That was the plan anyway this weekend gone.

1710.25 CRAMMING FOR THE TEST
It's 30 years since I took my exams at the end of my school life. Big changes happened to English exams the year after, but now they're changing back (sort of). They do say history repeats itself.

1710.16 THE LAST EVER PARENT-TEACHER EVENING
As a parent of older children, well an adult and a teenager, I've seen many of the parenting tasks end. Last Thursday I saw another one end.

1710.10 15 YEAR BLOGGERVERSARY
Ok, it might not be the most popular blog but I enjoy it and it's been around a long time, fifteen year in fact. That's right, I've been writing this stuff for a decade and a half.

1710.08 WONDERFUL EVERYDAY
It's been over 20 years in the making. People have actively campaigned for this to happen. Well the wait was finally over as Sheffield welcomed Ikea to the city last week as the Swedish store opened it's doors to it's 20th UK premises.

1710.04 SWEET SIXTEEN
Being a parent is a job for life. Sure the sleepless nights are over pretty quick, in fact the whole childhood part is over pretty quick so if you've got little ones make sure you're savouring it all.

1709.27 ALL BAD NEWS
Like a lot of people I have a news app on my phone. There are loads out there that chime to give you the latest breaking headlines. I subscribe to the BBC News app but they're all pretty much the same.

1709.24 TREKKING AGAIN!
It's been a long 12 years since any new Star Trek was on our TV screens. The time is almost upon us, the long wait is almost over...

1709.23 OLD BILL
Classic TV is something I enjoy. One classic show is enjoying a little bit of a revival on one of our digital channels. It was a particular favourite of mine back in the day.

1709.18 ALL CHANGE YET NOT
This week has been a difficult one. My head space has been mucked about by life and the reshuffle at work.

1709.11 THE DOUBLE
This year has been great for cycling, at least it has on the telly. When I speak to people generally they have heard of the Tour de France and that's it. Few know that there are 3 grand tours (I apologise to those in the know); Giro d'Italia - Tour de France - Vuelta Espana. It's the Vuelta that I'm going to talk about today.

1709.03 THE PURGE
Seven years ago I negotiated a new Sky+HD box after my original Sky box started to fail (actually it turned out to be the dish at fault). In fact I wrote a blog post about it at the time. Well I am now in a similar position with my current 7 year old box having intermittent trouble recognising the viewing card.

1708.31 HATERS GONNA HATE
I wasn't going to write this post. I didn't want to wade in to the debate about the supposed danger cycles are to the general population. So why am I writing this? Well I'm just fed up with the hate that's flying around at the moment.

1708.26 I THINK I'LL LEAVE MY HAT ON
Whenever I say where I'm from the usual response is something along the lines of "oh! The place in 'The Full Monty'". Of course they're referring to the 1997 hit movie which was filmed in Sheffield and today that movie is 20 years old.

1708.20 THE LONG DRIVE
Easily the worst part of any trip to my favourite place is leaving. Most know my love for that place, I go on about it a lot, but the heartache I feel when I leave is difficult to describe.

1707.28 HIS NOODLEY GOODNESS
I've been to many weddings in my life. Some have been moving, some have been dull. Some have been enjoyable but I don't think I've ever been able to describe any as "fun", until now.

1707.14 TDF ROUNDUP WEEK TWO
Everyone who knows me knows that knows that July I spend watching the cycling on telly. It's Tour de France time of course, the 2nd of the grand tours and arguably the most famous. We're 2/3 through and almost at the Champs-Elysees.

1707.12 FIRST BORN - TWENTY ONE
Now I know what you're all going to say, "he doesn't look old enough" but it's true. From today my eldest daughter is 21 years old. It's her birthday!
