1708.31 HATERS GONNA HATE

I wasn't going to write this post. I didn't want to wade in to the debate about the supposed danger cycles are to the general population. So why am I writing this? Well I'm just fed up with the hate that's flying around at the moment.

1708.26 I THINK I'LL LEAVE MY HAT ON

Whenever I say where I'm from the usual response is something along the lines of "oh! The place in 'The Full Monty'". Of course they're referring to the 1997 hit movie which was filmed in Sheffield and today that movie is 20 years old.

Easily the worst part of any trip to my favourite place is leaving. Most know my love for that place, I go on about it a lot, but the heartache I feel when I leave is difficult to describe.

1707.28 HIS NOODLEY GOODNESS

I've been to many weddings in my life. Some have been moving, some have been dull. Some have been enjoyable but I don't think I've ever been able to describe any as "fun", until now.

The final week came and so did the Alps. With Chris Froome in Yellow and Adam Yates in the young rider's White it was all to play for. It was a still a long road to Paris.

So we were told that the new actor to play The Doctor in 'Doctor Who' would be revealed directly after the Men's Wimbledon Finals. I monitored social media and learned the tennis had finished early so quickly turned over to the last few minutes of the men's final.

Everyone who knows me knows that knows that July I spend watching the cycling on telly. It's Tour de France time of course, the 2nd of the grand tours and arguably the most famous. We're 2/3 through and almost at the Champs-Elysees.

Now I know what you're all going to say, "he doesn't look old enough" but it's true. From today my eldest daughter is 21 years old. It's her birthday!

Once again I find myself looking back at events from 10 years ago. This time it's a natural disaster that fell on my home city of Sheffield. After unprecedented rainfall the rivers in the area burst their banks and became the area's most deviating event since the Second World War.
