Since the cycling accident back in November, my headspace hasn't been where I'd like it to be. To be honest, I haven't quite been myself lately, and I’ve made a few mistakes while trying to navigate the fallout. Between the physical recovery and some other personal challenges, I found I was struggling to find my usual rhythm.
Getting back on the bike has been more difficult than I anticipated, and the constant back pain hasn't helped. Rather than trying to force things or over-analyse why I’m feeling this way, I decided to just hit the pause button.
This break has been about clearing the slate and finding my footing again. I’m not quite there yet, but I’m taking things one step at a time and focusing on that reset.
Tomorrow, I’m heading to York for a few days of much-needed distraction. I’m really looking forward to the change of scenery. Let's see how things go from here.
While I’m focusing on my own recovery and getting back to fitness, the story in my webcomic, Northman, continues through the rugged landscapes of Jorvikshire.

Accidents of various kind have a way of shaking us both physically and mentally, and trying to get "right back in the saddle" asap might not be the best method in every case, or for every individual. Hope your time away will be encouraging as well as a distraction!
