Winter is my least favourite season, especially as I get older. All it does is stop me from doing stuff I like to do. If I had my way I think I'd like to hibernate until the spring.
I'm lucky/unlucky to live in a country which doesn't really suffer with extreme weather. We don't have massively bad winters or consistently hot summers. What we do get is variable and damp conditions which the whole population takes great please in complaining about.
The last couple of months the temperature has averaged around 4-5°C which has meant for some seriously cold mornings. Freezing cold frosts and many visits from the snow fairy. Snow hasn't lingered however, often vanishing from the landscape (in the urban mess I live in anyway) within the same day.

Tell these guys we don't get extreme weather in the UK |
Still, it's been unpleasantly cold outside and as someone who spends quite a bit of time in the great outdoors I find myself getting cold very often and avoiding my cycling hobby (except for commuting). But it's almost March and Spring is just around the corner.
But wait!
Next week's forecast |
More cold weather is forecast with a Siberian freeze on it's way! So later this week we've been promised snow and ice worse than we've seen so far this winter. In fact the Met Office have issued a YELLOW warning for snow across the country, or was that a warning for yellow snow? I'm not sure.
My street about 5 years ago during the last big freeze |
Anyway it's going to get colder before it gets warmer so I guess I'll just climb under a warm fluffy blanket and wait it out.
