It's no secret that I don't like the so called "beautiful game". I really don't get the appeal... and that's fine.
Apparently the football season is about to start, or has just started, or never ended? Anyway, everyone is talking about transfers and leagues and loads of other stuff I don't understand. If it's your thing then that's great, but please don't assume that everyone likes football, and when you find out that I (or others like me, and they do exist) don't like it please don't look at me like I'm some sort of mutant.
Now I might start watching if they introduced a hungry lion onto the pitch, that'd make it interesting to me.
I tire of the assumption that I must like football and I must be aligned to a particular team. I think Mitchell and Webb said it best in their classic sketch...
It's all very tribal but I'm not one of you, I enjoy watching the cycling - this doesn't make me odd, I like what I like and don't wish to conform to stereotype just to fit in. Enjoy your game just don't ask my opinion on last night's match because I was probably unaware that it took place.
