2302.07 FREINDSHIPS

Recently I've been thinking about friends. I don't have many friends really, they do say it's quality over quantity. That said I do notice most people around me (save a few) have loads of them.

My favourite TV comedies usually entail male friendships, the best do. "The Likely Lads", "Still Game" and "Men Behaving Badly" all portray this freindship even "On the Buses", "Blackadder" and "Porridge" fit the mold. I'm also of an age where I'm heavily reliant on nostalgia. I love 70s and 80s situation comedy, they might not reflect positive attitudes but I love them the same.

Recently I bought the box set of the "Likely Lads" and the follow up series "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads" after watching a few episodes of the latter on a nostalgic TV channel and I realised I'd never seen the original former. They were cheap so got a bargain.

So getting back to my opening statement about freindships... I can count my friends on one hand, even if I lost a number of fingers in a nasty industrial accident. Sure I have a lot of people I know, and there are the people who were friends but our lives have moved in different directions. I'm talking about those friends you can count on to help you bury a body if need be. Scientific study shows a person has between 3 to 5 close friends usually out of hundreds of connections.

So is it OK that I feel like I'm on the low side? I'm happy with it, my best friend has been with me since we were 16 and hopefully they're not going anywhere soon.
