Typically, this time of year, I'd be eagerly anticipating the festive TV lineup. However, recent years have left me feeling disheartened. Television schedules seem increasingly lazy and unimaginative. Gone are the days of big-hitting shows and variety extravaganzas. While there are a few exceptions this year, such as the Doctor Who special and the Gavin & Stacey finale, the overall offering is rather lackluster.
Perhaps it's a sign of the times. As I've grown older, I've found myself turning to nostalgia channels more and more. Maybe my era of peak television has passed.
Preparing for the Yule festivities can be stressful, the pressure to create a "perfect Christmas" can often overshadow the true meaning of Yule. Commercialism has taken hold, pushing us to buy expensive gifts and conform to unrealistic expectations. However, Yule is about much more than material possessions. It's a time to cherish family and friends, honour our ancestors, and celebrate the return of the sun after the winter solstice.
Regardless of your beliefs, Yule can be a time for reflection and gratitude. Let's take a moment to escape the daily grind and embrace the magic of the season.
Debra She Who SeeksI think your medieval-style illuminated capital letter is VERY impressive! As for TV shows, I find them to be pretty dull these days too, nowhere near as good as they used to be. I think it's because all the talent has moved to the more lucrative streaming services -- that's where the good TV series and movies are to be found now!Looking forward to more frequent blogging from you in the new year! Have a wonderful Yuletide season, you and all your family!CaptainKirt™Thank you, I'm pleased with the illustration and the style. TV streaming has the shows but I think the way we consume TV takes away a lot of the magic. The gathering around the shining box is not a thing anymore and I miss it.Yuletide blessings to you and yours.
