1706.08 YOUR DEMOCRATIC RIGHT

It's been 2 years since the last general election and since the Prime Minister has decided to try and grab more parliamentary seats we have another chance to vote today, 3 years early.

Before we go into that let me summarise UK party political history in a nutshell;

Once upon a time there were 2 groups of people, the Cavaliers (royalists) and the Roundheads (parliamentarians). The Cavaliers became the Tories (which apparently means 'Irish robber') and the Roundheads became the Whigs. They battled for power in election after election for the next few centuries, Tories evolved into the Conservative Party and the Whigs became the Liberals. In the 20th century the Labour party was born from the trade union movement and quickly replaced the Liberals in popularity.

I voted
So that's the history, what about today then? This post isn't a party political post, I'm not going to tell you how to vote... I just hope you voted (I feel it's one of the most important things you can do as a member of society). If you haven't voted then go now, you still have a few hours left.
