Like a lot of people I have a news app on my phone. There are loads out there that chime to give you the latest breaking headlines. I subscribe to the BBC News app but they're all pretty much the same.
I've noticed though every time I get the notification chime I find myself thinking or even saying out "Who's died". It's pretty apparent that these apps are purveyors of bad news, I can't remember the last time I got good news from one of those notifications.
In fact I'm struggling to remember the last time I was feeling upbeat about the news. With World War III on the horizon thanks to the puerile Twitter action of the American President and a World leader who would be considered over the top for a Bond movie, a government that is so intent on victimising the weakest in society and all the other death and disasters in the world I'm really in need of some good news.
I think it's time we were given some positive stuff, usually the last news item is the positive one. Perhaps the bulletins could be split 50/50? As for the apps, I'd time some good news the next time it chirps up.
