Everyone who knows me knows that knows that July I spend watching the cycling on telly. It's Tour de France time of course, the 2nd of the grand tours and arguably the most famous. We're 2/3 through and almost at the Champs-Elysees.
The week moved into the mountains and on stage nine we saw a horrific crash which ended Riche Port's race (and almost Dan Martin's). Porte was rushed to hospital with a broken collarbone and pelvis. The same stage saw Geraint Thomas on his way home after a crash which saw him with a broken collarbone too.

Kittle remained dominant in the points classification (green jersey) winning 5 stages so far. Warren Barguil finished the week in the King of the Mountains (polka-dot) jersey with a stage win for the Frenchman on Bastille Day.

Chris Froome lost the yellow jersey to Fabio Aru on stage 12 in what was a gruelling finish which proved to be too much for Froome as Aru, Uran and Bardet exploded towards the line on the 16% accent to the finish. Romain Bardet took the stage but it left Froome 6 seconds behind Aru in the overall standing.

So the race is definitely on, challenges from Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana have yet to materialise but this is the Tour de France and there's still a long road to Paris.
