It's St. Valentine's Day today which means lovers all over the world will be celebrating this evening. But what are we exactly celebrating?

1702.12 SUNDAYS USED TO BE SPECIAL

When I was a child Sundays used to be a time you spent with your family, TV was rubbish and it was illegal for shops to open (although some did so illegally). So what did we do? Well I used to visit my grandparents, Sunday dinner was mandatory and I remember listening to the radio quite a bit. I'm not from a religious background but I felt Sundays were a special day.

Watching Star Trek for all these years means I've been curious about the economy of the future. Captain Picard said that in the 24th century that people pursue personal enrichment rather than material items. But people still own property, have businesses and still acquire 'things'. So how does that work?

I don't blog about work. I have to be careful about what I say about work online. It's not like I'm a spy or anything (although if I was I'm guessing I'd say that anyway) they're just very strict. For the most part I enjoy my job, no two days are the same and I like that aspect.

I've been considering getting rid of my unlimited cinema pass since I haven't been going nearly enough. To me it's more than a card to enable me to access something I love, it's a symbol of freedom to get out of the monotonous tedium of life.
