It's that time of year when the average person who never watches horse racing watches horse racing. It's the Grand National!
I'm not a horsey person and I'm also not a gambling person but like so many I break with all that on one day a year to have a little flutter on the National.
I've never had much success but I've always put a small bet (or joined in a work sweepstake). This year I've chosen "Captain Red Beard" using the scientific method of liking the name. I'm not going to get rich, I bet £1 to win at 20/1.
So this afternoon I'll be swapping cycles for horses and shouting my lungs out at the telly for one afternoon only.
