1703.21 NEW DENNIS - EVOLUTION OF A CARTOON
The second thing I learned to draw when I was a kid was from my favourite comic. From an early age my parents had copies of The Beano delivered to our house for me, later I also got The Dandy as well. The Dandy sadly ceased a number of years ago, The Beano however has managed to reinvent itself and is still going strong albeit as something very different to what used to land on my mat every week.

1703.22 PRAY FOR LONDON
Today a Police Officer went to work but didn't come home.
Today visitors to our capital never returned.
Today we stand against the cowards that try to stop and disrupt our way of life.
Today we all stand together.

1703.18 BALLS OUT
I'm my
opinion one of the most integral parts of a successful cycle commute is the
availability of a shower at the other end. I've been on both sides of the
spectrum with a previous employer which didn't provide a shower (baby wipes in
the gents had to do) and my current one who does.

1703.13 AMERICANS DON'T HAVE KETTLES?
What's the first thing you do when you get up and come down stairs? When you walk in the house? I think I am in the majority when I say that I switch on the kettle. So imagine my surprise whilst reading the internet I came across a supposed fact that Americans don't have electric kettles. With globalisation and a shared history I've decided to look at a few other oddities our former colonists indulge in.Friday, 10 March 2017
1703.09 LOGAN
A nice little visit to the pictures with my best bud Mr C. A chance to catch up in the bar with a pint in the bar before the film.

1703.07 MEET ROLLO (AND MY FIRST PAID GIG)
Meet ROLLO my new (hopefully weekly) mini webcomic. In the same week I picked up my first paid cartooning gig. I've got a character design for a company's marketing requirements. Exciting times!

1702.26 TO THE EDGE: TOM SIMPSON RIDE
I've loved cycling for many years. What is it about cycling that I find appealing? I think it's the accessibility and the fact that you don't have to be the best to get something out of it. Recently I've struggled with my cycling mojo and aside from a few short rides, commutes and turbo sessions I haven't had a decent day out in the saddle in ages.

1702.25 EVIL TAKES A DAY OFF #02
So here it is, issue 2 of "Evil Takes a Day Off". Like the musicians' second album I found this one difficult and it went through many revisions. There's only so far you can go with a piece before you lose sight of the goal so I present it here for your enjoyment. This for me is still a learning experience and if I'm honest I'm enjoying every minute.

1702.23 TWITTERVERSARY
Ten years ago I was looking for a service that would allow me to publish 'status updates' on my website and blog. Something small, short and snappy that I could perhaps update over WAP (do you remember WAP?) and not have to fire up the old desktop computer.

1702.19 THE ROLLERCOASTER
When Ronan Keating sang "life is a roller-coaster" I think he could have been describing the last few days of my life. Emotionally it's been joy to traumatic and everywhere in between.

1702.12 SUNDAYS USED TO BE SPECIAL
When I
was a child Sundays used to be a time you spent with your family, TV was
rubbish and it was illegal for shops to open (although some did so illegally).
So what did we do? Well I used to visit my grandparents, Sunday dinner was
mandatory and I remember listening to the radio quite a bit. I'm not from a
religious background but I felt Sundays were a special day.

1702.09 UTOPIA ACHIEVABLE?
Watching Star Trek
for all these years means I've been curious about the economy of the future.
Captain Picard said that in the 24th century that people pursue personal
enrichment rather than material items. But people still own property, have
businesses and still acquire 'things'. So how does that work?

1702.03 GROUNDHOG DAY
This post isn't about the 1993 movie nor is it about the American tradition involving a fat ferret.
I don't blog about work. I have to be careful about what I say about work online. It's not like I'm a spy or anything (although if I was I'm guessing I'd say that anyway) they're just very strict. For the most part I enjoy my job, no two days are the same and I like that aspect.
